How to get started. What to expect. Timelines. Extras.
Our first phone chat, email or in-person meeting is when we discuss your goals for the session, the products you envision for your home, session location and wardrobe plan. Whichever method of communication you prefer works for me, although I recommend at least a phone call. Non-refundable retainer fee and signed portrait agreement are due within 7 days to reserve your date and time.
If you would like to consult on outfits, I am happy to consult! Please feel free to email me at samabfwphoto@gmail.com with phone snaps of clothing options. I recommend working from a palette of 4-5 colors that will work well with your session location and your home décor.
Please be ready to go at your session time. Let kids know we will be having fun together! We will shoot for the length of the session you booked. Around 5 minutes prior to finishing up, I'll check with you to ensure we've gotten all the poses you'd like. Don't forget your payment for the day of the session. I accept cash, check, Venmo and PayPal.
Around one week (or sooner) after your shoot, I'll send you a gallery of images that I have soft proofed. They will have Watermarks on them at this point and are of a high enough quality to view and select your favorites. At this point you may want to select more than the number included in your package. Let me know which ones you want and I'll work on hand editing them. If you have any special requests for a particular image, now is the time to tell me!
If you want more than digital images, (this is my favorite part!) we'll have a separate session where I'll walk you through the various types of prints you can get. Ahead of the ordering session, I'll send you a link to my inspiration guide that has over 45 wall art designs for any room in your home. Be sure to measure any walls where you are considering adding portraits. We can also talk heirloom albums, frames, custom cards and archive quality prints.
1-2 weeks after you've made your final selection of digital images, I'll send you another link for your final hand edited images. You'll be able to download them at your convenience at home from a desktop computer. If you've ordered prints, albums, frames, etc., those will be finished in an additional 1-4 weeks (depending on what has been ordered). I will hand deliver any physical print product to your home once it's ready.

In short, no. Weddings are such an important event and I don't have the time to dedicate to making sure your wedding day photos are perfect.
Newborns are so extraordinary and the critical time to photograph them is within the first week or two of life. It’s such a special moment for a family and it deserves every attention to detail. I’m not currently able to schedule sessions with such short notice and I would be doing your family a disservice to offer that type of session. Once your little bundle of joy is sitting up on their own unassisted, count me in!
I first go through all the photos I’ve taken and cull out any that aren’t in focus, where someone is blinking, or aren’t compositionally correct (i.e. someone walked through the image at the last minute!). Then I do a first basic edit on the remaining images. This includes correcting for lighting, exposure and color temperature. I also crop images that benefit from a change in focal point. From there, you get to pick your favorite images for me to work my magic on. Each image can take up to 45 minutes to retouch, so I only retouch the ones you want to keep. Retouching includes removing blemishes, brightening teeth, smoothing skin, sharpening features like eyes and removing distractions. With family sessions I can also do “head swaps” to create one image where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera. Anything past that is considered extensive retouching and is not included in my standard fees.

Not at all! Your images will be available for digital download from your online gallery. Once you download them, you are free to share and print to your heart's content. I would however recommend printing photos through a professional, online lab to ensure quality. If your purchase the Classic or Ultimate package, you will receive a discount on printed items ordered through me.
Each additional digital image is $50.

Additionally I am currently only offering outdoor sessions utilizing natural light until it is safe to resume indoor shooting.
I regularly travel up to 60 miles from 77459. I utilize multiple locations in the wider Houston area to accommodate client preferences.
